Black women abolitionists, including Harriet Tubman, Sojourner Truth, and Maria Stewart, become prominent figures in the Black-led abolitionist movement that is calling for an end to slavery. Harriet Tubman (who is a healer and conductor of the Underground Railroad) and many others work to support enslaved African people in their escape from slavery.
