The ban will last for 25 years. July 1, the day the ban is enacted, is called "Humiliation Day" in Chinese communities. Industrial workers are also prohibited from entering Canada this year, limiting eligible immigrants to bona fide agriculturalists, farm workers, female domestic servants, and close relatives of Canadian residents.
