This revelation comes after many soldiers appeal to the Department of Defense to respond to the various symptoms they are experiencing.

Dr. Satu Somani, a professor of pharmacology and toxicology at the Southern Illinois University School of Medicine, testifies before a congressional committee about the health effects of pyridostigmine bromide, which was given to soldiers as a precautionary measure against potential exposure to nerve agents. Somani says: "Years after Desert Storm, many veterans continue to suffer from medical problems such as fatigue, headache, joint pain, gastrointestinal disorders, and other ailments."

Concerns are also raised about exposure to pesticides and other harmful chemicals, as well as the possible health effects of an experimental anthrax vaccine given to Desert Storm soldiers.
