The study finds that Black people and women are less likely to receive further tests and treatment when reporting chest pain than white men.

The researchers videotape Black and white actors performing identical scripts while doctors examine them for chest pains. The researchers attribute the disparate care to “subconscious perceptions rather than deliberate actions or thoughts” (Georgia State, n.d.) on the part of the physicians.
