The study finds that race and socioeconomic status impact the experience of pain and the likelihood of seeking treatment, with white people showing a lower pain tolerance and seeking treatment much faster than Black and Latinx patients.

The study also proves that white people are more likely to misuse pain medications, and that white people receive more and better pain treatments than Black and Latinx people.
