The act forces Mexican immigrants in the U.S. to return to Mexico. Raids ensue on Mexican-owned businesses, jobs are withheld from people with Spanish surnames who are perceived to be Mexican, county welfare offices withhold aid from Mexican families, and mass deportations ensue.
