Paramahansa Yogananda founds the Self-Realization Fellowship in Boston.
Date: 1920
Yogananda begins to teach meditation and to develop Kriya yoga. He will be put on a government watch list and kept under surveillance by the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and the British authorities, who are concerned about the growing independence movement in India and his political activities.
In 1928 he will be escorted from his practices in Florida out of "concern for his safety," after the local police talk with the British Consulate about his teachings.
