To filter by a particular topic and see a smaller section of the data, make a selection on the dropdown “Filters” menu or click “Search” to do a keyword search. Hover over the abbreviated filter tags in the blue boxes to see the complete name of the filter, or click a filter to display all the data with this tag. Public views on gene editing "depend on how it would be used."

A Pew Research survey finds that 72% of people in the U.S. say that changing a fetuses genetic characteristics to treat a serious disease or condition is an appropriate use of medical technology, while 27% say it goes too far. Whereas, only 19% think it would be appropriate to use gene editing to increase a baby's intelligence.

This 2018 study shifts its language as compared with the 2016 research study, which focused on fetuses and embryos rather than infants.
