To filter by a particular topic and see a smaller section of the data, make a selection on the dropdown “Filters” menu or click “Search” to do a keyword search. Hover over the abbreviated filter tags in the blue boxes to see the complete name of the filter, or click a filter to display all the data with this tag. Rosenwald Fund for Negroes established.

It is established by the white progressive philanthropist Julius Rosenwald of Chicago. Between 1928 and 1940, the Fund will give $1,250,000 to build "Negro" hospitals and train doctors and nurses, helping out the two main "Negro" medical schools at the time—Howard in Washington and Meharry in Nashville.
