Royal Proclamation of 1763.

The proclamation sets out guidelines for European settlement in Indigenous territories. It is issued by King George to claim British territory in what is now "North America." The proclamation explicitly states that "Indian" title has existed and continues to exist, and that all land is considered Indigenous unless ceded by treaty. It forbids settler-colonists from seizing Indigenous lands themselves and states that only the British Crown can buy land from Native people.
