In assessing the psychological impact on soldiers returning from the war, researchers conduct studies on veterans across race/ethnic groups and find a new "opportunity for cross-cultural comparisons between troops from widely differing cultural backgrounds" (Tasca et al, 2012).

Also during this time period, military doctors become interested in "neuroses and hysteria" as conditions caused by participation in wars.
