Multiple Black led settlement houses are created across the U.S.–particularly in the South and some major cities. The Black settlement movement is often dismissed by white settlement houses because they are sometimes tied to churches, or are more explicitly housed within neighborhoods. One example is the Seneca Village in New York City.
