Tekatsi’ tsiah:khwa Katsi Cook (Wolf Clan), a midwife from the Mohawk Nation, initiates the Akwesasne Mother's Milk Project to monitor and document levels of polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs) and other industrial pollutants in the breast milk of Mohawk mothers living near the St. Lawrence River to understand how toxic contaminants have moved through the local food chain, including mothers' milk.
