The Atlantic Charter calls for the restoration of self-government to all people deprived of it.
Date: 1941
An agreement is reached between the United States and Great Britain where a range of anti-colonial policies are outlined. These agreements include the following: no territorial aggrandizement, no territorial changes made against the wishes of the people, reduction of trade restrictions, global cooperation to secure better economic and social conditions for all, freedom from fear and want, freedom of the seas, abandonment of the use of force, and the disarmament of aggressor nations.
In the U.S., this leads to the repeal of the Indian Replacement Act. In Britain, this leads to the All Colonial People's Conference the next year, where stakeholders strategize for the independence of the current British colonies.
