The council is formed to improve and standardize medical education. It decreases the required study of American materia medica (herbal remedies) to only 10% of the curriculum. Other medical traditions are largely discredited. This forces many racially integrated and homeopathic colleges to shut down completely, including several women’s and African-American colleges.
