The Governing Council of the American Counseling Association declares opposition to "reparative therapy."
Date: 1999
The Governing Council of the American Counseling Association (ACA) adopts a position opposing "reparative therapy" as a "cure" for individuals who are homosexual.
Numerous medical, health, and mental health organizations, which represent over 480,000 professionals, adopt the position that homosexuality "is not a mental disorder," and, thus, is not something that needs to be or can be "cured."
