The Governing Council of the American Counseling Association (ACA) adopts a position opposing "reparative therapy" as a "cure" for individuals who are homosexual.

Numerous medical, health, and mental health organizations, which represent over 480,000 professionals, adopt the position that homosexuality "is not a mental disorder," and, thus, is not something that needs to be or can be "cured."
