The National Native American AIDS Prevention Center (NNAAPC) is created by Indigenous people working at the intersections of: "public health, primary care, social work, and substance abuse treatment who were willing to speak publicly on the need for HIV prevention and education by and for Native people" (NNAAPC, n.d.).

It will be the only national HIV/AIDS Native organization in the U.S. for 27 years and: "historically the first national Native American health organization funded entirely outside of Indian Health Service (IHS) and Bureau of Indian Affairs (BIA) monies" (NNAAPC, n.d.).
