The U.S. Army uses scorched-earth tactics—destroying peach trees and cornfields—as part of their strategy. The tribes are forced to walk 250 miles, which is called "The Long Walk." They lose over 25% of their community during the walk and in the immediate years after. Tribal leaders fight back and are eventually "allowed" to return to their homelands.
