To filter by a particular topic and see a smaller section of the data, make a selection on the dropdown “Filters” menu or click “Search” to do a keyword search. Hover over the abbreviated filter tags in the blue boxes to see the complete name of the filter, or click a filter to display all the data with this tag. The War Reserve Service begins testing biological weaponry, including anthrax spores.

Biological warfare materials begin to be produced in Indiana and tested in Mississippi and Utah, overseen by the U.S. Army Biological Warfare Laboratories at Camp Detrick in Maryland. Materials tested include chemical herbicides, as well as anthrax. Because the production facility is not appropriately fitted with engineering safety measures, there will never be large-scale production of biological weapons in the U.S. during World War II.
