Thomas Rice, a white entertainer, creates a minstrel show that highlights his character "Jim Crow," who sings and dances in Black face as a racist caricature of enslaved Black men. This will become the most popular form of racist white comedic portrayals of African-Americans. Minstrel shows will go on to peak in popularity between 1850-1870.
