Postell's book describes "an uncomplicated image of antebellum slave health care in which well-organized plantation infirmaries represented the prevailing norm among Southern slaveholders" (Kenney, 2009).

This continues to entrench the white supremacist belief that enslavement was an institution that supported enslaved African-Americans and their well being.
