The International Journal of Gynecology & Obstetrics warns of the potentially devastating effect of using quinacrine sterilization as a population control tool. The journal warns that the procedure could easily be done on a massive scale because it is so cheap and relatively easy to perform, and could result in millions of women being sterilized each year.

Nevertheless, private doctors, who are primarily promoting the sterilization of Women of Color, begin to use it off record.
