Physicians and other medical personnel in both the Abu Ghraib prison and at the Guantánamo Bay detention center violate legal and ethical conventions. They conceal evidence of physical and psychological abuse, fail to interrupt torture, and reveal detainees’ confidential medical records to interrogators, which promotes the exploitation of the detainees’ vulnerabilities.
