With support from Ed Roberts of the Independent Living Center in Berkeley, Brad Lomax opens the center to offer peer services out of a storefront in East Oakland to support Black people with disabilities.

Lomax is a leader in supporting the Black Panther Party to build its solidarity platform by recognizing ableism and disability rights as part of the broader work of liberation.
