The American Coalition of Citizens with Disabilities (ACCD) is founded. It will become an important cross-disability rights organization, pulling together groups representing deaf, visual, physical, cognitive, and developmentally disabled communities.

Members stage demonstrations throughout the 1970s fighting for visibility and legal support for access.
