American Farm Bureau founded by the Rockefeller Foundation to organize farmers.
Date: 1919
Designed to counter the nonpartisan, populist farm movement, the American Farm Bureau Federation (AFBF) takes a lead on social issues as much as on economic and agricultural issues. A loud voice against communism and socialism, AFBF will successfully strategize the industrialization of American farming away from small farms and towards the interests of big business. Operating as a trade association, AFBF will also go on to prioritize the profits of the farming industry over response to climate issues.
