The governor of New Mexico's strategy to subjugate all of the Pueblo people ends in a siege and the massacre of 800 Acoma Pueblo people, including 300 Pueblo elders, women, and children. All Native women, 12 to 25, became indentured "slaves." All males over the age of 12 have one foot chopped off.
