In a "A Letter from Huey to the Revolutionary Brothers and Sisters of the Women's Liberation and Gay Liberation Movements," Huey Newton acknowledges the violence of gender-based oppression and homophobia. He acknowledges the legitimacy of Gay and Women's Liberation movements, and denounces homophobia and sexism within the Black Panther Party.
