Through the Marshall Plan, also known as the "European Recovery Program," the U.S. gives billions to Europe to support their recovery after World War II.
The plan also includes doing away with trade agreements, establishing U.S. military bases on European soil, and solidifying a Western coalition in opposition to the Soviet state with the intent of creating a unified front against the expansion of Communism.
The Marshall Plan also gives money to the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) in order to finance secret operations outside of the United States.
