The author of an article in the Washington Post expresses anxiety about the thinness of "American" (i.e. white Anglo-Saxon Protestant) women, stoking fears about the arrival of racialized "foreigners." They write: “our women will go on getting thinner and thinner until they disappear...The American stock...can’t hold its own against the big-boned strong-built foreigner" (Strings, 2019).
