The hospital is selected as a protest site "as a reminder of the domestic needs which have been overshadowed by the war" (Harvard Crimson, 1967).

The protest is coordinated by an ad hoc committee of Medical Professionals for Peace in Vietnam, as part of a nationwide series of actions.
