Considered by many as the person who introduces yoga to the masses in the U.S., Hittleman's focus is on basic Hatha yoga positions, where he incorporates more advanced positions as time goes on.

While Hittleman shares some aspects of the yoga philosophy, the focus on yoga as a series of physical movements is the primary framework for his teachings, which reflects the general trend of yoga's development in the U.S. He does not honor the origins or lineage of different types of yoga.
