Hover over the abbreviated filter tags in the blue boxes to see the complete name of the filter, or click a filter to display all the data with this tag. With an increase in people seeking illegal abortions comes an increase in self-induced abortions. During this time, urban hospitals began to identify "septic wards" for women with infections resulting from their self-induced abortions. The majority of these women are living in poverty and/or are Women of Color unable to afford the costs of private, under-the-table abortions.
