"MRSA stands for methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus, a type of bacteria that is resistant to several antibiotics. In the community... MRSA most often causes skin infections. In some cases, it causes pneumonia (lung infection) and other infections... In places such as a hospital or nursing home, MRSA can cause severe problems such as bloodstream infections, pneumonia, or surgical site infections" (CDC, 2019).

By 2010, MRSA will kill more Americans than AIDS.
