Walter Harper sues the State of Washington for forcing him to take antipsychotic medicines while incarcerated. The U.S. Supreme Court rules that while an individual has the right to refuse antipsychotic medication, the State has the right to treat an incarcerated person with antipsychotic medication against their will, under the conditions that they are considered to be dangerous to themselves or others, and that the medication prescribed is in their "best medical interest."
