After eradicating malaria in the United States, the World Health Organization (WHO) takes on eliminating malaria around the world. Mosquito breeding grounds across the Americas, Europe, and Asia are filled in or sprayed with dichlorodiphenyltrichloroethane (DDT).
However, similar measures are not taken in Africa, and logistical barriers are cited as the reason.
