To filter by a particular topic and see a smaller section of the data, make a selection on the dropdown “Filters” menu or click “Search” to do a keyword search. Hover over the abbreviated filter tags in the blue boxes to see the complete name of the filter, or click a filter to display all the data with this tag. White supremacists and white police attack Black neighborhoods to protest the end of the Civil War. During the trials afterwords, multiple Black women will testify publicly on the gang rape tactics used by the white men in their attack. It is one of the first documented cases of women publicly naming gang rape in a court setting.
