To filter by a particular topic and see a smaller section of the data, make a selection on the dropdown “Filters” menu or click “Search” to do a keyword search. Hover over the abbreviated filter tags in the blue boxes to see the complete name of the filter, or click a filter to display all the data with this tag. The American Indian Religious Freedom Act is passed making it legal for Native communities to practice their cultural and spiritual practices, including healing traditions.

The act states that the policy of the United States is to: "protect and preserve for American Indians their inherent right of freedom to believe, express, and exercise the traditional religions of the American Indian... including but not limited to access to sites, use and possession of sacred objects and freedom to worship through ceremonials and traditional rites" (American Indian Relief Council, n.d.).
